Happy Father's Day
The last time I heard my dad’s voice was the day before I started driving to Nashville, Tennessee from Saskatchewan.

My dad always loved to hear the stories about my Music City visits.
He was so excited that I was working with Amanda, my producer and cowriter, with all her success and talent, and always asked about what was going on with my new music.
He followed her on Facebook, and usually knew what was going on before I did.
My dad was like a super hero to me. When I was younger, I thought he could lift a car with one hand. He had such a strong personality.
He came to a lot of shows and the two of us had a lot of fun hunting and partying together over the years.

As he got older, it was hard for me to accept not seeing him as that strong man who used to be able to track moose in the snow three feet deep become a guy who could hardly stand and walk three feet across the room.
He passed away on June 28, 2022 at the ripe old age of 76.
We had just wrapped up recording a batch of new songs for the album project the day before, and one of them called “Death of a Small Town Dreamer” ended up being a tribute to my dad.
And here we are nearly a year later, and it’s so hard to believe he’s been gone for that long.
I’m glad I didn’t race off back to Canada when I got the news about my dad passing away.
Instead, I spend the day as planned visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame where we honored Amanda’s dad Kim Williams, who was born on June 28.

She says he would have called that “synchronicity” – the meaningful coincidence of my dad passing on her dad’s birthday.
A few days later in the small town of Weekes, Saskatchewan, Canada, I played “Death of a Small Town Dreamer” at my dad’s memorial.
I prayed for the strength to get though it and Thank God I did.
Thank you, Dad for always being there and always being my super hero in life.
For all you dads out there, thanks for being there for us kids.
As a dad myself, I know there is no greater joy than seeing your kids do well, and I am so proud of my sons as they make their way in the world.
Happy Father’s Day. Watch out for animals and aliens out there.

Sheldon Tyacke Performs at Canadian Country Music Awards Week in Calgary
Sheldon had the honor of representing his home province Saskatchewan in a showcase for Saskatchewan Country Music Association in cooperation with Manitoba Country Music Association during Canadian Country Music Week in Calgary.

Sheldon played at an event celebrating singer-songwriters, and had a great time mingling with other musicians from Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
He made the trip to Calgary, Alberta, about a six hour drive from his home, with
girlfriend and photographer, Sofia Petelina.
The two stopped for a photo op. at a scenic overlook called Horseshoe Canyon near Drumheller, Alberta.
“That is a cool place because it has a bunch of dinosaur bones and a museum,” said Sheldon.

I loved my Elvis growing up.
I would always beg my parents to pick me up an Elvis record when they went to a bigger town that had a record store.
Once I took a Greyhound to Graceland and visited Elvis’s house in Memphis and spent the night near there before hopping another Greyhound to Nashville for a Songpreneurs songwriter retreat.
The thing I loved most about Elvis’s music is that he could sing anything – any genre and just knock it out of the park and be right on the money. His voice had such range.
And the man could move.
They told him he could get up on stage, but he just couldn’t shake his hips or they were gonna have to shut him down.
And what can I say, the women loved Elvis. Everybody loved Elvis.
Man I miss the King. Too bad he had to go so early.

What a blast to play with Amanda, Dennis and Pete.
Drove down with my girlfriend named Sofia who is a photographer, and got a lot of cool pictures.

Met some cool people. A lady from Washington State was there. We chatted with her a bit after. She and her friend were in the front row and said they were really digging the show.
While I was in Music City, I got some great recording sessions at 522 Studio with producer and collaborator Amanda Colleen Williams. There are lots of cool new tracks coming up in the future.
Also had a really cool show at the events center The 7695 and unloaded some Sasquatch gear.

Had a really cool drive down from Canada, but I have to say Milwaukee was my favorite city besides Nashville.
I did have a special stop off in Chicago. I’ll tell you that story sometime.
18 and Life - what the song means to me
I remember rocking out to this song when I was a teenager, cruising in my car and banging my head to Skid Row, and the parties we had and the good times back then. It seemed like it was so cool to be bad.
But this song also has other values for me, as I have dealt with the consequences of what alcohol can bring, Broken homes, broken bones, near death, depression, anger, over night jail time, and the list goes on and on.
I also have a son that has spent sometime behind bars for his consequences with drugs and alcohol, and the last three years I haven’t been able to see him much because of it. It sucks and it’s sad, but I have a higher power and that is GOD that helps me keep it real in life now.
18 and Life is what can happen if you turn to the dark side in Life. We all do bad shit in life but some of us get caught, and eventually we all suffer the consequences, whether it’s jail for real, or jail in our minds.

It blows my mind to think that I’m announcing the release the song “18 and Life” today.
I look back a long time ago rocking out to this song by one of my favorite Canadian artists, Sebastian Bach of the band Skid Row. Never thought I’d be releasing the song as a country artist all these years later.
Goes to show, you just never know what can happen in life and music.

Playing at The White Elephant in Fort Worth Texas
I was watching the show 1883 with my folks up in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan and saw The White Elephant, a bar in the Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas, U.S.A. I just played at a few weeks ago.
In the show, the sheriff character of Billy Bob Thornton shot someone at The White Elephant and Tim McGraw was in the scene, too.
My folks were like holy crap! that’s where Sheldon was.

Thinking about putting out some new music soon
Now that things are starting to open up a bit, I’m thinking a lot about getting back down to Nashville to record some new music.
Been writing a lot with my friends from Tennessee and Texas U.S.A., and it’s been over a year since my last visit to The ‘ States.
Passing the time with long motorcycle rides with my photographer friend, Sofia.

Q&A with Canadian Outlaw Country Artist Sheldon Tyacke about tattoos
Sheldon’s Nashville guitar tattoo
Q: What made you want to get your first tattoo?
A: I like art, and especially the art of tattoos.
For me they define what a person is. Some people just have random sleeves, or whatever. That’s not me.
All my tattoos, except maybe for a few drunken ones, have meaning.
I’ve actually been patted on the shoulder from a couple tattoo artists, letting me know that they appreciate my outlook on tattoos.
They said that they like that I do a little bit of research into what tattoos I want on my body, the meaning and such, before I get one.
I got my first tattoo because I thought it was cool, and because hot chicks like tattoos.
Q: What was your first tattoo?
A: My first tattoo was a silhouette of a wolf howling at the moon. I got it at a place called the Shamballa in Edmonton, Alberta.
I remember when we were writing the song “Tattoos and Guitars,” my cowriter Amanda was asking me to tell the story about my tattoo art. In true Amanda fashion, right off the bat, she was trying to get at the story.
You’ll notice that we put a few of the images, including “Shamballa” into the song “Tattoos and Guitars.”
Q: What would be your advice to somebody who is thinking about getting their first tattoo?
A: I would say put some thought into the tattoo. Don’t just get a random piece of art on your arm. Especially if you’re drinking, and you’re going to regret it the next day.
If you’re going to put some ink in you, put some thought into it and get something that is meaningful to you or to your life.
Q: Does it hurt to get a tattoo?
A: Hell yeah. But some spots are not as painful as others.
The most painful spot I have gotten a tattoo is my sternum, solar plexus area – where it’s a really bony area.
It’s like the old westerns when I should have been biting on a stick when they were taking the bullet out, that kind of thing.
And the rib cage kind of sucks, too.
Q: What else should I know about getting tattoos?
A: I always remember to check what the tattoo artist is using. If he’s using brand new, sterilized needles.
If it looks sketchy, don’t do it. Go somewhere else.
Cleanliness, and the professionalism of the tattoo artist is something you should really check out.
Q: Do you regret any of your tattoos?
A: Not at all.
Q: Do you ever find yourself in conversations with strangers about tattoos?
A: All the time. Whether it be at the supermarket, or traveling the world.
I always have people asking me about different tattoos.
For instance, the one with the guitar gets commented on a lot. People always comment on the detail of it.
Of course there’s the ones I can’t show everybody because I’d have to take my pants off. (laughs)

Motorcycles
I grew up riding motorcycles.
Most of them that I had my dad could never afford expensive ones. So most of the time, we’d be pushing the motorcycle rather than actually riding the motorcycle.
We come from a mechanical family. My dad would hand me a wrench and say, here’s how you do it, go to it.
Fix it on your own because I don’t want to fix it when I get home.
I first got to buy my own when I was in my 40s, I guess. I love it.
And hot girls love motorcycles.
Guitars
Guitars have been part of my life ever since I was a little boy. Starting with my grandpa, and my dad and my brother. We’ve all had guitars in our hands since we were born.
There’s always been a guitar kicking around the house.
My grandpa and my brother are guitar builders. They can build you a guitar out of just about anything.
And I love collecting guitars.
Of course as a songwriter being able to play a guitar is very important thing.
As lead singer in a band, also being a rhythm guitar player is an important thing.
I’ve never been a lead guitar player, but I’ve concentrated on being a good rhythm guitar player.
I own approximately 20 acoustic, and approximately 10 electric guitars.
Guitars can be art, too. They can be good wall hangers.
Oh.. and hot girls love guitars.
